Municipalities (Mexico, 2024)
OPERATOR NOTE. Source: INEGI Marco Geoestadistico 2024 (published 2024-11-26), national integrated set mg_2024_integrado.zip, layer 00mun. Retrieved 2026-08-13 by HTTP range-read of the central directory of the 3.33 GB national archive (only the 284 MB integrated member was pulled). Kept CVEGEO, CVE_ENT, CVE_MUN, NOMGEO; reprojected EPSG:6372 (Mexico ITRF2008 / LCC) -> EPSG:4326. 19 RFC7946 GeometryCollection artifacts coerced to MultiPolygon per decision 0020 (0 features dropped, 0 area lost). GENERALISED: ST_SimplifyPreserveTopology at simplified_tolerance_deg 0.0005 (~50 m), applied because the full-resolution GeoJSON (112 MB) exceeded what the cloud produce path completes inside the MCP 60s client ceiling; 2478/2478 features retained, 0 emptied, total area 1,966,703 -> 1,966,719 km2 (+0.0008%). Full-extent inspection after generalisation is indistinguishable from before. 2478 = 2462 municipios + 16 demarcaciones territoriales of Ciudad de Mexico. Real production join-test against the acceptance file matched 980/989 municipality names (99.1%) on NOMGEO; the miss could not be closed (unsupported_grain - a 24-year panel), so this is published_unverified. Note municipality names are not unique nationally (the acceptance file's 989 distinct names span 1103 state-municipality pairs) - join on CVEGEO where the state is known.
