Global Economic Outlook From 2024-2026 by Country

There is widespread uncertainty about the economic outlook for 2024 and beyond, so I wanted to start a mini project gathering all of the pertinent data and projections. Starting right at the top, I downloaded the global Real GDP growth projections from the IMF and made this visualisation.

Insights:

  • Growth is looking somewhat anaemic across much of Europe next year at 0.6%, a mild slowdown from 2023. It is projected to pick back up in again through 2025-26.
  • The same pattern can be observed in the USA, but with growth rates expected to be slightly higher and not dipping beneath 1.5%.
  • Inflation is expected to continue declining from its peak last year, before normalising somewhere in 2025, dampening growth through the period. I'll try and find the inflation projections also.
  • Out of the G20, India, Indonesia and China are expected to lead the way with 6.1%, 5.2% and 4.7% respectively.
